A Year of Community Impact

Manufacturing is a world-changing industry in more ways than one. Not only does the industry supply the world its goods through advanced, high-volume production, companies like ours also seek to change the world through the outreach initiatives and community-impact projects. At Silgan Specialty Packaging, we invite the team to participate in a quarterly program we call “Gateway Gives Back”.

As its name suggests, this program aims at helping team members recognize that they can be a force for change by donating resources back toward the advancement of individuals in their own communities, especially to those in need.

This past year, we have had the opportunity to serve a variety of organizations in our immediate community and those surrounding. During 2016’s first quarter, we collected books for Children’s Hospital of Wisconsin, and quarter two brought a very successful silent auction and 5K walk benefitting the Multiple Sclerosis Society. In quarter three, right before the school year began, we chose an education-based initiative and collected school supplies just in time for the kids’ first day. The canned food drive in quarter four benefited both Feeding America – Eastern Wisconsin, and Family Sharing of Ozaukee County.

Feeding America – Eastern Wisconsin feeds an impressive 400,000 people across our state every year, providing individuals and families in need with a lifeline of food and other resources. Family Sharing of Ozaukee County, a smaller but also highly effective organization, serves hundreds of people every month and offers our community an amazing outlet for volunteerism.

All departments at Silgan Specialty Packaging came together to contribute their time, money, and other resources toward these community organizations that serve different areas of the city but share the same passion: helping those in need. We are proud of our team for partnering with this goal in 2016!
